2012 Mountain West Conference Preview

The Mountain West Conference lost TCU, but got a big edition when it was learned that the Boise State Broncos would join and play football in the conference for the 2012 season. It's an addition that certainly has put the Mountain West on the map.

And right away coming into their new conference, Boise State tops the list of favorites to win. It's not even close. The new kids on the block are going to come in and expect to dominate, as they have created a football tradition of winning over the course of the last decade.

The Broncos have routinely been in the BCS picture, and as a preseason top-25 team in 2012, will again try to do so. Boise State is set at -300 on the betting odds available at BetOnline Sportsbook to win the conference.

The next closest on the odds?

That would be Nevada, set well back at +525 on the betting line. And from there, the odds continue to skyrocket, whether it's Hawaii, Fresno State, UNLV or any of the other teams in the Mountain West.

Many of you may remember that Nevada has beaten Boise State before though, as they were their lone loss a couple of years ago in 2012 that kept the Broncos out of the BCS Championship picture. So right out of the gate we have some history between these two teams, which should make for some compelling football.

But really, the Mountain West Conference is going to be all about Boise State this college football season, especially with the departure of TCU. The Broncos defeated Georgia in the first game last year, and will get a chance to beat Michigan State in the first game this season. If they knock off the Spartans, the schedule the rest of the way is pretty easy.
