2012 UConn Huskies Football Preview

The Connecticut Huskies play in the Big East Conference, having joined in 2004. Prior to that, the program began as a Division II team, before becoming a Division I program in 2002. Having been around in 1896, the huskies are a team with plenty of tradition. UConn plays Rentschler Field in East Hartford, which can seat 40,000. It is a relatively new stadium, having been constructed in 2003. The Huskies have 26 conference championships claimed, though many of those took place when they were a Division II program. UConn captured the 2010 Big East championship and played in the Fiesta Bowl for the first time. It was a big step for the program looking to establish themselves in FBS as one of the top programs in the Big East conference.

2012 UConn Huskies Outlook

Offense was a problem for UConn in 2011, and that looks to be the case once again heading into this season. The Huskies ranked 97th in rushing, and 82nd in points scored last year. That will have to improve if they hope to contend for a Big East title.
