2012 Iowa Hawkeyes Football Preview

The Iowa Hawkeyes compete in the Legend Division within the Big Ten conference since the conference split into two divisions. Iowa football has been played since way back in 1889. Located in Iowa City, Iowa, the Hawkeyes play in Kinnick Stadium, which can seat a capacity crowd of over 70,000. In their history, Iowa has won 11 conference championships and one national title. They have also produced one Heisman Trophy winner, and 22 consensus All Americans. Iowa definitely has a winning tradition, and is a consistent team over the years, with a big fan base behind the program making for one of the great places to play in college football.

2012 Iowa Hawkeyes Outlook

Iowa didn't really play much of a role in the Big Ten last year, going a pedestrian 7-6 on the season. It was above .500, but Hawkeye fans expect this team to compete for the conference championship. In 2012, that doesn't appear like it will happen, with Iowa set in the middle of the road in both the division and on the Big Ten betting lines on the whole. Improvement on both sides of the ball will be needed for Kirk Ferentz's program if they are to top the Legends division.
