2012 Michigan State Spartans Football Preview

The Michigan State Spartans compete in the Legends Division of the Big Ten Conference. Michigan State football goes back to 1896. They have won seven conference championships and have climbed six national titles in the 1950s and 1960s. Located in East Lansing, Michigan, the Spartans play in Spartan Stadium which can hold over 75,000 fans. All time, the Spartans have played in 22 bowl games, going 8-14. The school has never produced a Heisman Trophy winner. But Michigan State is definitely a big player when it comes to college football. They have a couple of main rivals, highlighted by their in-state game with the Michigan Wolverines.

2012 Michigan State Spartans Outlook

The Spartans come into the 2012 season as the defending champions in the Legends Division, as they went 7-1 in the Big Ten last year. But they are definitely missing some big pieces of that championship puzzle from a season ago, most notably at the quarterback. But the Spartans were also led by a stout defense that ranked inside the top-10 nationally in terms of points allowed. But several of those key players have departed as well. It's really a completely new era for Sparty, but you can bet they will have something to say about who gets this division in the end.
