2012 Northwestern Wildcats Football Preview

The Northwestern Wildcats compete in the Legend Division of the Big Ten conference since the conference split into two divisions. But the first season for Northwestern football goes back a lot longer, back to 1882. Located in Evanston, Illinois, Northwestern plays at Ryan Field, which can seat a crowd of over 47,000. In their history, Northwestern has won eight conference championships but have yet to win a national title. They have played in 10 bowl games, but have a poor record at just 1-9.

2012 Northwestern Wildcats Outlook

Northwestern comes into the season with relatively little expectation. If they are to win some games in 2012, it will probably have to start with getting better on defense. The Wildcats ranked 66th in the country in points allowed last season, surrendering over 27 points per game. That ends to put a lot of pressure on the offense, and often leads to a breakdown in execution when the talent level is slightly lower than the top level programs elsewhere in the Big Ten. Simply put, things to need to go perfect for Northwestern in 2012 to contend.
