2012 Wisconsin Badgers Football Preview

The Wisconsin Badgers compete in the Leaders Division in the Big Ten conference in college football. The Badgers first played football back in 1889. In fact, the Badgers won the first-ever Big Ten conference championships back in 1896. The Badgers play at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, which can host over 80,000 fans. Wisconsin has won 13 conference championships but is still looking for that elusive national title. The Badgers have produced two Heisman Trophy winners in their history. The first was Alan Ameche in 1954, with the second in 1999 with running back Ron Dayne. The Badgers have played in 23 bowl games, with an 11-12 record. Wisconsin is certainly a football program with a lot of history and a ton of support from their school.

2012 Wisconsin Badgers Outlook

It will be a different look on offense for the Badgers in 2012, with Russell Wilson going to the NFL. While Wilson was only there for one season, he definitely made an impact on the program turning them into an instant title contender. But it will be running back Montee Ball's team in 2012, with the offense likely running through him. And really who else would they go to, Ball did tie Barry Sanders' all-time touchdown mark for a single season last year. So while a quarterback things might be new, but it sure helps to have a Heisman contender in the back field. Wisconsin is atop the list of favorites to reach the Big Ten title game in the Leaders division, and it probably helps that Ohio State is not eligible.
