2012 Iowa State Cyclones Football Preview

The Iowa State Cyclones compete in the Big 12 conference in college football, also as one of the charter members of the conference. Iowa State football has been around a long time, dating back to 1892. Located in Ames, Iowa, the Cyclones play in Jack Trice Stadium which can seat a capacity crowd of about 55,000. The Cyclones have won two conference championships in their history and reached one Big 12 championship game. They have never won a national championship, nor had a Heisman Trophy winner. All time, Iowa State has been to 10 postseason bowl games, and sport a record of 3-7.

2012 Iowa State Cyclones Outlook

The Iowa State Cyclones claim to fame in 2011 was an upset over the Oklahoma State Cowboys to deter the Cowboys from a BCS Championship game. Coming into 2012, there isn't much expected from the Cyclones, who are picked to finish at or near the bottom of the Big 12 conference. Head coach Paul Rhoads still has a lot of work cut out for him.
