2012 Kansas Jayhawks Football Preview

The Kansas Jayhawks is one of the oldest college football programs in the country, dating back to 1890. The Jayhawks play in the Big 12 conference, but that conference was only founded in 1996. So that gives us more than 100 years of Kansas football prior to the Big 12. Located in Lawrence, Kansas, the Jayhawks play in Memorial Stadium which can seat a capacity crowd of over 50,000. Kansas has won six conference titles, but never a national championship nor had a Heisman Trophy winner. The Jayhawks played in one of the oldest rivalries in college football against Missouri. But this rivalry played its last game in 2011, with Missouri moving to the SEC. All time, Kansas has played in 12 bowl games, and sports a 6-6 record.

2012 Kansas Jayhawks Outlook

The Charlie Weis era in Kansas begins for the 2012 college football season. Ad really it can't get much worse than last year, when the Jayhawks went 0-9 in the Big 12 and 2-10 overall. The Jayhawks are still a couple of years out from competing at the top of the conference if Weis is to have success. There isn't much talent on either side of the ball coming into 2012.
