2012 Texas Tech Red Raiders Football Preview

The Texas Tech Red Raiders compete in the Big 12 conference in college football since the conference's first season in 1996. But the Red Raiders program dates back to 1925. Located in Lubbock, Texas, Texas Tech plays in Jones AT&T Stadium, which can seat over 60,000 fans. The Red Raiders have won 11 conference titles have participated in 34 bowl games over their history. Texas Tech has not won a national championship, nor a Heisman Trophy, but they have had eight Heisman finalists. The Red Raiders have a number of heated rivalries in the conference, including with the Texas Longhorns, and the Baylor Bears. They had a rivalry with Texas A&M, however with the Aggies departing to the SEC, that has ended.

2012 Texas Tech Red Raiders Outlook

The Texas Tech Red Raiders aren't expected to do much during the 2012 college football season, as they are picked to finish towards the bottom of the pack. In fact, they aren't even set with odds to win the BCS Championship, and are well back at 30/1 to win the conference championship. The Red Raiders do have a great passing game which ranked seventh in the country. But the defense was horrendous, ranking third-to-last giving up close to 40 points per game. That can't happen if they hope to have success in 2012.
