2012 Arkansas Razorbacks Football Preview
The Arkansas Razorbacks compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. Arkansas football has been around a long time, like most of the programs in the South. The Razorbacks first year goes back to 1894. Since then, Arkansas has won 13 conference championships and one national title. But the program has never produced a Heisman Trophy winner. The Razorbacks play in Fayetteville, Arkansas at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium War Memorial Stadium. The stadium can host a crowd of 78,000 fans on game day. Arkansas has a number of rivalry games of which a tradition with the LSU Tigers on the day after Thanksgiving is probably their most well known.
2012 Arkansas Razorbacks Outlook
At one point last season the Arkansas Razorbacks were the No.3 ranked team in the country. But at that same time, they were the No.3 team in their own SEC West division. Unfortunately for the Razorbacks, they occupy the same division as Alabama and LSU, who happened to reign atop the rankings last season. But a new season breed new opportunity. However, the Razorbacks will begin a new era with a new coach, thanks to the firing of Bobby Petrino and that whole fiasco. John L Smith comes in to replace Petrino. And while typically a new coach comes into a poor situation, Smith comes into a team that won 10 games last season, and has arguably the best quarterback in the entire country in Tyler Wilson. Things are looking good for Arkansas in 2012 to challenge for the SEC championship.
