2012 Auburn Tigers Football Preview
The Auburn Tigers compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference, with their football program dating all the way back to 1892. Located in Auburn, Alabama, the Tigers play in Jordan-Hare Stadium, which can host a capacity crowd of 87,500. Auburn has captured seven SEC titles in their history since joining the conference in the 1930s, and won two national championships, one of which came in the BCS era in 2010 behind Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Cam Newton. Auburn is definitely a program ripe with tradition and a winning history, ranking in the top-15 of the all-time winningest program in Division I. The main rival for the Tigers is the Iron Bowl at the end of the season with in-state school Alabama.
2012 Auburn Tigers Outlook
The Auburn Tigers are just a couple of years removed from winning a national championship heading into the 2012 college football season. But they are definitely a different team, no longer at the top of the SEC predictions. In fact, the Tiger are predicted to finish somewhere around fourth in the West. If they are to get better, it will start with offensive side of the ball, in particular in the passing game. Auburn ranked 105th in the nation in passing last season, which really hurt the Tigers balance on that side of the ball. And with running back Michael Dyer transferring, running the ball could now be an issue.
