2012 Ole Miss Rebels Football Preview
The Mississippi Rebels compete in the Western division of the Southeastern Conference. The first season for Ole Miss football was in 1890. The Rebels joined the conference in 1932 upon its formation, and have won six conference championships. Ole Miss has won three national championships in their history, the last coming in the 1962 season. Located in Oxford, Mississippi, the Rebels play in Jerry Hollingsworth Field, which can seat approximately 62,000 fans. The Rebels have played in 33 postseason bowl games, so there is certainly a winning tradition there. But since the conference split in 1992, Ole Miss has never won the Western Division. Their main rival is in-state school Mississippi State, for which they play in the Egg Bowl every season
2012 Mississippi Rebels Outlook
After a terrible 2011 campaign in which they won zero conference games, the Ole Miss begins a new regime under first year head coach Hugh Freeze. And the one thing going in Freeze's favor is that it really can't get much worse in Oxford after a 2-10 season. It will still be very difficult to come by wins though, with all of the top teams in the West still expected to be national championship contenders. At 100/1 to win the SEC, the Rebels aren't given much of a chance at success at all this season.
