2012 Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Preview

The Mississippi State Bulldogs compete in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. Mississippi State has began playing football back in 1895. In their long history though, the Bulldogs have managed to win just one SEC championship, which came back in 1941. Since the conference split into the East and West, Mississippi State has won the West division one time to play in the SEC championship game, but never a title. There have been no national championships by this program, nor a Heisman Trophy winner. The Bulldogs have played in 16 postseason bowl games, having success will a 10-6 all time record. The Bulldogs' main rival is in-state school Mississippi, whom they play every year in the Egg Bowl.

2012 Mississippi State Bulldogs Outlook

The Mississippi State Bulldogs enter the 2012 college football season in the middle of the pack in the West Division and in the SEC on the whole. The Bulldogs finished above .500 last season, and started out in the top-25. Dan Mullen has his work cut out for him this season, with the Bulldogs having to play LSU, Alabama and Arkansas. The Bulldogs are expected to finish over .500, but challenging for the division title and SEC championship seems like a longshot.
