2012 Missouri Tigers Football Preview
The Missouri Tigers compete in the Eastern Division of the Southeastern Conference. But Missouri is one of the new teams to the conference, joining in the 2012 season. The Tigers came from the Big 12, for which they were a charter member of that conference back in 1996. Missouri football has been played in 1890. Located in Columbia, Missouri, The Tigers play in Faurot Field, which can host a capacity crowd of over 71,000 fans. The Tigers have won 12 conference titles in their history, but no national championships nor a Heisman Trophy winner. The historic rivals for Missouri will change, as their long-time rivalry matchup with Kansas will be no more with the Tigers jumping conferences. That was one of the oldest rivalry games in all of college football.
2012 Missouri Tigers Outlook
The Missouri Tigers begin their journey as members of the SEC this season, moving from the Big 12. The Tigers join the Eastern division, where they are expected to be a middle of the road team. They get their first dose of SEC action at home in the second week against Georgia. What the Tigers do bring to the table is one of the better offenses in the country, particularly in the rushing department behind rising junior Henry Josey. But it's a different breed of animal on defense between the Big 12 and the SEC. It should be interesting to see how Missouri performs this year on the SEC stage.
