2012 Florida State Seminoles Football Preview
The Florida State Seminoles football program is relatively new when comparing to a lot of the powerhouse programs in college football. They started playing football in 1947 but after the arrival of Bobby Bowden in 1976, the Seminoles program really took off, racking up two national championships and 12 ACC championships along the way. Florida State plays in Doak Campbell Stadium, which is the largest in the ACC seating 83,000. The Noles have a rich tradition in football in the 65 year history of the program, including two Heisman Trophy winners in Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke. During the 2000s, after a string of three-straight BCS National title game appearances (which FSU went 1-2), FSU fell on hard times but the Noles appear to be back on the grind towards the apex of college football under head coach Jimbo Fisher.
2012 Florida State Seminoles Outlook
The Seminoles are pegged as a national championship contender for the 2012 college football season, stacked on the defensive side of the ball. But the key will probably be with veteran quarterback E.J Manuel and how effective he can be during the course of the year. The Noles can really be as good as they want to be without getting in their own way and making mistakes. After all of the trials and tribulations over the last several seasons, this actually could really be the season in which Florida State gets back to dominating on the national stage.
